Caibarién, May 6 (ACN) Five hundred years after its foundation, Havana will host the International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2019, dedicated to Spain as a guest of honor and to the modality of events and incentives, announced Manuel Marrero, Minister of Industry of leisure.

To close this Saturday the 38th edition of the most important event of the sector, held in the northern keys of Villa Clara, the owner stressed that the next meeting will take place in the Cuban capital in the middle of the celebrations for half a millennium of created.

The XXXIX International Tourism Fair of Cuba, FitCuba 2019, will be held in Havana during the half-millennium celebration of the city, with Spain as guest of honor, and will be dedicated to tourism events and incentives. This was reported by the Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero, during the closing of FitCuba 2018, which closed its doors on Saturday at Plaza Las Terrazas in Cayo Santa María, after four days dedicated to the presentation of the main destinations and products of the the central region of Cuba, sun and beach tourism and the United Kingdom as the guest of honor.

Marrero Cruz highlighted the presence of more than 3,000 participants from 52 nations and the well-attended participation of representatives from Spain, the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom; and described this edition in the keys of the north of Villa Clara as one of the best in history.

The Cuban Minister thanked the support of all in the effort to “meet the goal of re-launching Cayo Santa Maria as a completely renovated tourist destination” and mentioned among the main achievements the signing of several agreements and business intentions referring especially to the development of the aeronautics and the management of hotels in the main tourist destinations of the country.

During the last day of the event a large public fair was organized in the Vidal Park of the city of Santa Clara, capital of the province, where companies and agencies operating in the tourism industry in the region offered tour packages for the next summer in a festive atmosphere.

For their part, FitCuba participants were able to visit attractions in the picturesque city of Caibarién and participate in the presentation of the city of Remedios as a new destination for tourism, during which the Hotel Bauzá with 24 rooms was inaugurated, among other developments in the corridor. touristic center of the island.

Minister Manuel Marrero explained to those present the main agreements and achievements of FITCuba 2018. The most outstanding are:

· The FTI Group of Germany signed an agreement for the management of hotels in Cuba and position, as of next winter, a plane for the realization of daily flights between Santa Clara and Europe.

· The lease of flights for the improvement of air connections within the country.

· The signing of a letter of intent between Louvre Hotels of France and Cubanacán for the administration of all hotels operated by the Cuban receptive in Sagua la Grande.

· Incorporation of all European tour operators, specialized in circuits, of all the hotels in Santa Clara, Remedios and Sagua la Grande in the catalogs for next winter.

· The signing of a contract between Iberostar and Gaviota for the administration and management of the Packard hotel in Havana, which will open its doors in the coming month of August.

As is traditional, Minister Marrero took the opportunity to announce that the edition of FITCuba 2019 will be hosted in Havana, in the same year that the great Cuban city will reach its 500th anniversary, while Spain was selected as the guest country honorary.

“We are pleased to announce that the Organizing Committee of FITCuba proposed, and thus was approved, to dedicate the fair next year, as the guest of honor, to Spain,” announced Mr. Marrero, who invited the ambassador of that country to Cuba, the His Excellency Mr. Juan José Buitrago de Benito, to receive the certificate that accredits that condition of the Iberian nation for FITCuba 2019.

The 39th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2019) will be dedicated to Spain, and will be held May 7-11 of 2019 in Havana, it was officially informed.

He thanked the successful effort of tourism workers and neighbors of Santa Clara, Remedios and Sagua la Grande, besides those of the northern keys of Villa Clara province, venue for the event.

He certified that a survey carried out during this version of FITCuba, showed that 60 percent attended previously to the venue and 40 percent participated for the first time.

He stressed that 23 percent took part in FITCuba in more than eight occasions and 51 percent found out about the event through the website of the Fair and promotion campaigns of Mintur.

Eighty-nine percent of those interviewed showed great satisfaction for the information given, 95 percent considered adequate the way the meeting developed.

The Fair concluded with a big party very near the beach of that place, entertained by the internationally recognized Cuban music band, Los Van Van.

Cuba has 366 hotels and over 66 thousand rooms, airlines from over 72 important cities worldwide, and the island attended about 4.7 million foreign visitors last year.

Cuba expects to reach the figure of 4.7 million visitors by the end of 2018 and follow its growth rate year after year.

Coinciding with the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the city of Havana, what is the cultural or festive program that the tourist visiting the country can find?

In the context of the celebration of the five centuries of the founding of the Villa de La Habana, the current capital of all Cubans, there is a plan to boost the recovery and restoration of spaces and emblematic sites of the Cuban capital for the enjoyment of national and foreign visitors. From last November to December 2019, this joint plan is executed with the Office of the Historian, the Government of the city and main ministries of the country.
